About BarnalaBarnala is a city in the heart of the Indian state of Punjab, India. It was formerly located in the district Sangrur and now is the capital of the latest district of the state. Baba Ala Singh, the founder of Patiala State, occupied it in 1722 when it was a small village and made it the capital of is raising principality till 1763, when the capital was shifted to Patiala. Ala Singh constructed a masonry wall around the town and built a fort, now known as Qila Mubarik, in the town. The fort now houses the courts of Additional District and Sessions Judge, etc. the town has well known agricultural market for the sale of wheat, paddy, cotton and maize. It is also known for the manufacture of modern agricultural implements. It is the birthplace of S. Jita Singh, a contemporary of S. Sewa Singh Thikriwala. He lay down his life for the success of the Praja Mandal Movement and the uplift of depressed classes. Barnala is a medium sized town with all the amenities available within commutable distance. It's economy is supported by neighboring agriculture rich villages like Thikriwal, Rajgarh, Uppli, Pherwahi, Dhanaula, Amla Singh Wala. It has diverse population supporting local industries and food business. Barnala has certain streets which are improving at a very fast pace - main is Sadar Bazar, Pharwahi Bazar, K.C. Road and Handiaya Bazar. It has a famous palace called Barnala kila. It is still a developing city and has no malls till yet. But under development, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Colony is a very posh area which in future; will become a big success. As Barnala has become district now, Investors will invest more on the development of Barnala. |
